Kicks and Giggles.

Summer almost always brings the luxury of staying out late and sleeping in, and this summer hasn't been any different. Well, until recently. Each morning when the early morning sun strains to splash through our bedroom blinds, I find myself laying on my back, listening to the consistent snores of my baby daddy, and feeling the most incredibly strange bursts of movement in my lower abdomen. These butterfly-like feelings have been the one most welcomed part of my mornings for the past two weeks, with my large bowl of Cap'n Crunch Berries following in a close second. These little baby movements and kicks almost always result in excited smiles and giddy giggles from me and my daddy-to-be. These momentous morning memories are certainly a more joyful way of being reminded of my pregnancy than the awful hunger pain and nausea that seemed to be my only reminder for the first few weeks. Along with the first kicks, Baby Spice has had a few other firsts the past few weeks.

Yesterday, we joined the Spicer's as they drug out the boat for the first time this summer season, thus Baby Spice's first of many boat trips. The weather stayed true to Idaho, as we experienced an array of cold, hot, and warm temperatures. The only constant temperature was that of the ice, cold water! The varying degrees didn't seem to put a damper on the day, as we stayed from morning until evening riding in the boat, building sandcastles, surfing the wake, and tubing 'til our tummies hurt. We know that it was a successful day of boating when we finished the night lathering up in Aloe Vera to relieve our sun kissed, or more likely sunburnt, skin.

The best thing about having my mom as my mom is knowing that my kids will have her as a grandma. Since the moment we told her about Baby Spice, she has been gearing up to welcome another grandson, or just maybe granddaughter, to her spoiled list. Grandma Michelle provided us with Baby Spice's first piece of nursery decor, and we've proudly been displaying it ever since.

It's been hard for my mom to hold back on her shopping frenzy until we find out the gender of her newest grandchild, but the wait will soon be over. Daniel and I will be finding out if this baby will be a handsome he or a pretty she in less than two weeks. What do you think it will be?!
