Ellisyn has become our adorable two month old at a whopping nine pounds and twenty-one and three fourths inches tall. She had her two month appointment at the pediatrician, and I think Mom and Dad were more worked up about the upcoming unpleasant elements of the appointment than Ellisyn. The picking and prodding of the nurse and doctor didn't seem to phase Ellisyn at all, maybe due to the fact that nurses and doctors became her second family since she was first born! The growth and development of our baby girl are right on track for her premature body. The numbers are extremely small in comparison to other two month olds, but in time she will quickly catch up. The appointment didn't have a very happy ending, however. Ellisyn had to get her first round of shots. She only cried for a few moments, and returned to her angel baby self by the time we got home. As I read through the vaccination fliers, I was reminded of the blessing of modern medicine. Because without it, I don't know if we would have been having a two month appointment with baby Ellisyn. We love her so much, and I'm so thankful we have her here and healthy!
A few exciting milestones that Ellisyn has made over the past month is moving from newborn clothes to zero to three month clothes. I absolutely love dressing her in all of her fun girly outfits. Ellisyn has also started making more eye contact and I think she's on the brink of smiling, which completely delights her dad and me.
Ellisyn was spotted this month celebrating her dad's birthday, getting into the holiday spirit, and meeting some of what I'm sure will be a few of her best friends. Ellisyn got to meet her three month older neighbor Payton Parker, as well as a few of her cousins.
Ellisyn's cousin Kyle is completely mesmorized by her presence. He showers Ellisyn with kisses, helps burp her after eating, and reminds her to be "happy" whenever she starts to cry. Kyle is so sweet with his newest cousin, and I think Kyle and Ellisyn have a pretty special friendship already.
Just before Thanksgiving, Ellisyn got to meet two of her other cousins, Paxton and Colton. Paxton was thrilled to finally meet baby Ellisyn, as he had been working on saying her name for months. He immediately ran to her carseat and informed us that he will be teaching her about super heroes. Paxton is quite the busy body, so his interactions with Ellisyn usually consisted of running by shouting, "Hi, baby Ellisyn!"
Colton wasn't as into Ellisyn as his older brother until he saw her with her bottle, then he immediately wanted his as well. Other than that, Colton would give her a glance every now and then or maybe try to touch her as he waddled around the living room. It's exciting to think about how much fun these three cousins will have together once they get a little older.
Grandma and Grandpa Sargent really helped kick off the Christmas season when our entire family was together around Thanksgiving. They put on a pajama parade followed by opening Christmas books and decorations to help all the grandkids get ready for the holidays. It was adorable, and I hope we can make it a tradition!
We are so happy to have Ellisyn in our lives, and she is so loved by everyone around her! She is certainly our favorite two month old!
